Toyota has unveiled the 2025 GR86 Hakone Special Edition, a tribute to Japan’s famed Hakone Turnpike. Scheduled to arrive at dealerships in fall 2024, this limited edition sports car promises an exhilarating driving experience and striking aesthetics.
The GR86 Hakone Special Edition features a distinctive Ridge Green exterior, complemented by 18-inch satin bronze wheels, a duck-tail spoiler and a unique Hakone badge. Under the hood, it boasts a 2.4L, 4-cylinder boxer engine delivering 228 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque, available with either a six-speed manual or automatic transmission.
Toyota has enhanced the GR86’s handling with retuned shocks and electric power steering. SACHS dampers and Brembo brakes come standard, ensuring exceptional performance and control. The interior showcases Ultrasuede sport seats with tan leather trim, a bronze-accented shift knob and a GR special edition plaque. The special edition emphasizes driver engagement with improved throttle mapping for quicker response and easier blipping for downshifts — with the chassis, made from high-strength steel and aluminum, offering a balanced and responsive feel.
For those purchasing in the U.S., the limited edition vehicle comes with a complimentary 1-year NASA Membership. This includes a range of benefits like access to one free High-Performance Driving Event (HPDE) and discounted admission to NASA-sanctioned events.
Only 860 units of this special edition will be produced for the U.S. market, with pricing details to be announced later this year. This limited edition, part of Toyota’s GAZOO Racing lineup, continues the brand’s legacy of combining track-inspired performance with everyday driving excitement.
