Tove Lo and SG Lewis have come together to release a sexy summer EP, Heat. Lo took on the vocals and Lewis covered the production with the duo co-writing this four-track project.
Kicking off with the title track “Heat”, the song instantly sets the tone for this EP by using all the right synths and beat drops to formulate a song perfect for the club. An accompanying NSFW music video was released for the track featuring tons of sweaty dancers, sex toys and raunchy acts. Released amid Pride month and inspired by queer London nightlife, the video acts as a celebration of lowering inhibitions and being truly free. This is just the start of a larger, four-act story told through this video and the remaining three music videos to be released.
The next track “Let me go OH OH” is reminiscent of early aughts pop with sultry vocals and a catchy hook. “We wanted to make something with a similar temperature as Kylie Minogue’s ‘Can’t get you out of my head’…sexy, cool and hypnotic,” said Tove Lo.
“Busy Girl” follows with powerful, hyper-confident lyrics like “I got skills, I got power. Every second, minute, hour. I am good at what I do. B*tch, I’m better than you.” The song slows down the EP just a little so listeners can truly embody this song and match Lo’s energy.
Heat ends with “Desire”, taking listeners back in time with a trance track. The high BPM and large buildups bring home the Tove Lo and SG Lewis club experience. “We wanted to revive some of that 2000’s dirty electro-house like Fedde le Grand or Mason, and TEED & I had worked on the perfect instrumental together for that purpose,” said SG Lewis. “I wanted it to be really emotional, something that could be played at the end of the night. It felt like the perfect way to close off the EP.”
Heat is available to stream on all platforms. You can watch the “Heat” music video here.
