Tottenham’s Headie One Finally Drops “Martin’s Sofa”

Tottenham-born drill star Headie One has just dropped his latest single, “Martin’s Sofa.”

Over the last few weeks, Headie has been hinting at a release date for the new single. For drill and rap fans across the UK, you may have come across the instrumental on social media — stitched across various Headie-related memes, of course — and now the full record is out, it’s clear to say that the release is a deep-dive into pre-fame stories, all of which paying homage to his old friend, Martin.

The song explores how Martin helped and supported Headie One through the tough times, offering his sofa to rest his head. Additionally, the regular occurrence of staying with Martin represents the hard moments, not just for Headie, but for everyone else who has ever had nowhere to go.

With this in mind, now Headie One is enjoying the many fruits of his current success, the musician revisited Martin’s flat to show gratitude — and to also gift his old friend with a brand-new sofa.

The production of “Martin’s Sofa” comes from M1OnTheBeat and samples “Palm Trees,” the instrumental used on the late Cadet’s now-iconic “Slut” freestyle. Furthermore, the Nathan Tetty-directed visuals capture Headie posted on Martin’s sofa, while other clips of early Headie One freestyles add in some more nostalgia for good measure.

You can check out the “Martin’s Sofa” visuals above and be sure to add the song to your playlists below.
