Toro y Moi Expands His Scope on 'Hole Erth'

Toro y Moi has an incredibly expansive catalog, with his discography – ridden with consistent mixtapes and studio projects – dipping into a captivating cornucopia of genres and influences. The multifaceted musician has revealed his eighth studio album – aptly entitled Hole Erth – which finds him continuing to expand his already extensive scope, existing in the interim of a multitude of sounds and styles, and ignoring any rules or constraints the music industry may offer.

Hole Erth rounds out at 13 tracks, clocking in at approximately 41 minutes in run time. Features are wide-ranging as well, and come from Benjamin Gibbard on previously released cut “Hollywood,” Kevin Abstract and Lev on other pre-release single “Heaven,” as well as Duckwrth and Elijah Kessler on “Reseda,” glaive on “Starlink,” Don Toliver and Porches on “Undercurrent,” and another Donny T appearance on “Madonna.”

“thanks to everyone who’s been with toro through all the many stages and eras. i hope this chapter ignites a fire within, something true and unique to you. see you soon,” Chaz Bear wrote on Instagram.

In tandem with the LP’s release, he also unleashed two of the project’s visuals: “Babydaddy” and “Madonna.” The latter of which has a lyric that sums up the project perfectly: “Love the way you change / How you always switchin’ genres / One moment at a time / That’s my new mantra.”
