After rolling out Sandhills last summer, Toro y Moi is beginning to unearth his next studio release. Entitled Hole Erth, the project, which is predicted to be Toro’s most expansive and enigmatic yet, is slated for a global release this fall.
Per a press release, Hole Erth will meld a mesh of genres from Toro’s repertoire, focusing mainly on “anthemic pop-punk and autotuned, melancholic rap” to build out an LP that is reflective of his artistry and therefore “is very much of the now” as well as “a reflection of long-running threads in Toro y Moi mastermind Chaz Bear’s musical history.”
“I hope you enjoy this suburban anthem, growing up, the often-controversial line between mainstream and underground artists was so defined,” Bear explains in an official statement. “But now, that line has become so blurred that I can’t even tell what I like anymore…sometimes.”
He kicked it off this morning with the guitar-heavy single “Tuesday.” Find the feel-good music video in the gallery above.
News of Hole Erth arrives in tandem with the producer’s upcoming performance docket; today, Toro also announced his imminent performances at Los Angeles’ Hollywood Forever Cemetery alongside Zack Fox as well as a show at NYC’s Knockdown Center, which will follow up his August headline show at The Greek Theatre.
Stream “Tuesday” on Spotify and Apple Music now, and stay tuned for Hole Erth – slated to drop everywhere on September 6.
