Tom Cruise Reportedly Did 13,000 Motorbike Jumps To Train for His ‘Mission: Impossible 7’ Stunt

In footage debuted at CinemaCon via The Hollywood Reporter, the feature detailed how Tom Cruise prepared for arguable the most “dangerous” stunt for Mission: Impossible 7.

According to Christopher McQuarrie, director of the Mission: Impossible 7, the stunt is considered to be highly risky. Cruise had to train one year prior to filming the stunt in order to perfect it. The stunt requires the actor to perform a motorbike jump off of a cliff into a valley in Norway. In order to prepare, Cruise took 500 skydiving sessions and performed 13,000 motorbike jumps.

Cruise comments on the stunt, “This is far and away the most dangerous thing I’ve attempted; we’ve been working on this for years. I wanted to do it since I was a little kid.” To Cruise, this is a dream come true and has clearly showed no signs of stopping. McQuarrie added, “The only thing that scares me more is what we’ve got planned for Mission 8.” The shot itself was reportedly captured on the first day of principal photography.

In the past franchise films, Cruise has been no stranger to dangerous stunts. In the sixth film, Cruise jumped across a building and broke his ankle upon landing. Mission: Impossible 7 has been filming across Europe in Italy, Abu Dhabi and the U.K. The film is set to release on May 27, 2022.
