The current champion jumps jockey – Brian Hughes – rides his Tim Easterby runner and looks to have a leading chance after a nice CD winner here last month. Up just 4lbs for that here and so in a similar race a repeat of that last run would make him hard to beat.

A fair second here last time out and gets in here off the same mark. Up in grade slightly but that means she gets to carry 5lbs less in racing weight. Trip, ground and track are all fine and Richard Kingscote, who rode last time, gets the leg-up again.
APPIER @ SP with Fitzdares – 4.45 Beverley
Course winner that bolted up last time here by 4 1/4 lengths. Up just 6lbs for that doesn’t look enough to stop him going in again if in that same mood, with the longer trip also expected to suit (up to 1m4f).
STATE EVENT @ SP with Fitzdares – 7.00 Newcastle
Fifth on debut at Newmarket – the form of that run has been franked with the second winning well at Chester last week since and the Charlie Appleby yard have a 41% record with their 3 year-olds at Newcastle.
