Tinariwen—the Tuareg musicians’ collective from Mali—have announced a series of reissues from Wedge Records and Craft Recordings. Wedge will be reissuing the group’s previously limited release from 1992, Kel Tinariwen, while Craft will release new versions of 2007’s Aman Iman: Water Is Life and 2009’s Imidiwan: Companions. Each release is due out November 4.
Along with the announcement, Tinariwen have also shared a new visual for the song “Arghane Manine,” which is the last track on Kel Tinariwen. The visual adds a touch of animation to a wordmark bearing the group’s name on top of the photograph used on the album cover.
In addition to the reissues, the collective is heading out on tour, with dates in the United Kingdom and across North America. After a series of festival performances that brings them to End of the Road Festival, Manchester Psych Fest, and the Spree Festival, Tinariwen will make their way to the United States for performances nationwide. Find those daets below.
Tinariwen’s most recent album Amadjar was released in 2019. The album included guest contributions from Cass McCombs, Micah Nelson, the Bad Seeds’ Warren Ellis, Sunn O)))’s Stephen O’Malley, and more.
