Threads Confirmed To Receive a Web Version "in the Next Few Weeks"

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg recently took to his new app Threads to confirm that a web version and search function will be coming soon.

In a thread, he wrote that users can expect to get both a web version to be used on the desktop as well as a proper search function “in the coming weeks.” In the same post he alluded to the growth of the app and that “the community here is on the trajectory” and that he is “excited about the team’s pace of shipping.” At the moment, Threads posts can be viewed on the desktop, however when users click on the reply, repost, like and send buttons, a QR code pops up to link to the app. Currently, the Threads functions are quite limited and makes it difficult for users to search topics or posts.

Meta’s Thread push came at an opportune time when Elon Musk continued to alienate his user base with Twitter Blue updates and later a rebrand to “X.” When “X” users were reeling over the major changes to their originally beloved Twitter, Threads provided an alternative to X. Threads arrived shortly after X began limiting the number of posts users can see on the website and app with non-paying users affected the most. People flocked over to Threads as soon as it came out, hitting 100 million users in just under a week. Stay tuned for the updates.
