Horror fans will be delighted to learn that THQ Nordic is now rebooting Alone In the Dark for current-gen consoles and PC. The original game was first released all the way back in 1992 and THQ Nordic hopes to retain the core of its experience by bringing players back into the New Orleans of the 1920s, with the infamous Derceto Manor serving as the main setting once again for the title.
Both protagonists Emily Hartwood and Edward Carnby will also return as playable characters and offer their own take on the game’s plot, although there’ll also be plenty of new influences on the reboot, including the addition of Soma and Amnesia: The Dark Descent writer Mikael Hedberg as well as long-time Guillermo del Toro collaborator Guy Davis, who’s responsible for the esteemed director’s monster designs.
Though there’s no precise release date just yet for Alone In the Dark, THQ Nordic says it’s been in development since 2019 and will arrive soon for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. Stay tuned for more updates to come.
Elsewhere in gaming, NBA 2K23 will let you authentically relive Michael Jordan’s iconic career.
