The Koenigsegg Jesko is here — sort of. What you’re looking at is a pre-series production Jesko in “Tang Orange Pearl,” meaning what you see here is 99.9 percent likely to be translated over into the cars that are sold to the public.

First seen at the Geneva Motor Show in 2019, the Jesko is a Swedish hypercar for the modern age. It comes with a five-liter twin-turbo V8 that will produce 1,280 HP on normal fuel and a whopping 1,600 HP when running on E85 biofuel, which is put to the tarmac through a revolutionary nine-speed Koenigsegg Light Speed Transmission (LST). The LST is said to be lightning-fast when switching between the gears, making for an increase in speed that feels almost instantaneous.

Explaining this in more detail is Jesko prototype driver Markus Lundh, who says, “The Jesko feels very natural to drive. Because of its seamless shifting, whether up or down, everything just happens much faster. There are no delays, it is very responsive and behaves exactly the way you want it to. For a car of its size and power, it is very agile in the way it reacts to steering and does not spin out even with sudden movements at full throttle.”

All of the power is harnessed thanks to new additions to the Jesko, which include an active triplex damper on the front suspension, active aerodynamics, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires, and a specially-developed Koenigsegg Electronic Stability system that should stop the car from spinning its wheels in high gears. Functions such as rear-wheel steering, 1000kg of downforce, and optional carbon fiber wheels will only help the car handle and feel as nimble as possible.

Inside is just as dramatic as outside, with carbon fiber and leather covering every single thing imaginable. There’s an infotainment system, a racing-inspired SmartCluster instrument screen behind the steering wheel that turns with you so you don’t miss information, and not much else to distract other than some really gorgeous design features.

The Koenigsegg Jesko is not just a replacement for the Agera RS, but more a complete overhaul. It is said to cost around $3m USD and is due to be in the customer’s hands from spring 2022. Take a closer look at the car above.

Elsewhere in the automotive world, Aston Martin has unveiled the hybrid V8 Valhalla.
