When you spend as much time looking at clothes as I do, you start to pick up on various, highly specific things. Whether it’s spotting an abstract print and instantly knowing which brand it belongs to or seeing the buckle of a shoe and being able to correctly identify its designer, there’s a certain encyclopaedic knowledge that comes with being a fashion editor.
Recognising trends is simply a part of the job, and as everything takes place online these days, I often find myself making subconscious mental notes of the trends and popular items I see on Instagram.
