‘The Wolf of Wall Street’ Lamborghini Countach Hits RM Sotheby’s Auction

'The Wolf of Wall Street' Lamborghini Countach Hits RM Sotheby's Auction

A very special Lamborghini Countach has just appeared on RM Sotheby’s auction block, one of only two Lamborghini Countach 25th Anniversary editions used in the making of Martin Scorsese‘s The Wolf of Wall Street.

What makes the vehicle even more significant is that it is the only surviving example from the film, with the second of the two being crashed by Jordan Belfort, played by Leonardo DiCaprio as he’s luded up and driving home from a country club — you know the scene.

The “Wolf” Countach to be sold at auction by RM Sotheby’s represents the headliner for the house’s upcoming New York City Luxury Week boutique sale, set to begin December 8. When it comes to vintage examples of the Lamborghini Countach, the 25th Anniversary edition is said to be the most advanced iteration as it features various improvements developed by legendary automotive designer Horacio Pagani.

RM’s specific example is thought to be one of only 12 US-specification examples delivered in Bianco Polo over Bianco, with another carrying nearly identical spec selling at auction just weeks ago for over $700,000 USD — that being said, thanks to the silver screen shine and provenance of the “Wolf” Countach, it’s estimated to go for nearly three times that amount.

Gord Duff, Global Head of Auctions at RM Sotheby’s stated, “The ‘Wolf’ Countach, along with the other cars that will be on offer, perfectly embodies what we set out to accomplish when we decided to host a sale during Sotheby’s Luxury Week,” he added that “Scorsese, DiCaprio, Lamborghini, and New York—all make for an incredible pedigree. The sale will feature other similar cars—unique, highly collectible, with a degree of provenance, low mileage, or one-off specifications. Our team has a great track record of curating boutique sales such as this, and we look forward to showcasing this during Luxury Week.”
