‘The Witcher’ Season Two Trailer Sees Geralt Train Ciri in Monster Hunting

‘The Witcher’ Season Two Trailer Sees Geralt Train Ciri in Monster Hunting

Netflix has dropped off the official trailer for the second season of The Witcher, starring Henry Cavill and Freya Allen.

The new trailer showcases the impending war with the Nilfgaardian Empire and several scenes from Ciri’s (Allen) training with Geralt (Cavill_ to become a witcher. Additionally, the visual is packed with Geralt’s otherworldly monster hunting and welcomes the highly-anticipated return of Jaskier (Joey Batey). Yennefer (Anya Chalotra) and Tissaia (MyAnna Buring) also make an appearance in the trailer, appearing disheveled and fatigued in the aftermath of season one’s finale.

“At the end of Season one, we have what I think is one of the sort of most emotional scenes that we’ve done, which is Geralt and Ciri finding each other after they’ve both been searching all season… And it seems like we’ve got a father figure and daughter figure, and everything’s going to be perfect at that point, except for they’ve never met,” says showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich in a statement.

“And so it was really fun to start Season 2 thinking about, well, they’re not a family yet,” she added. “How do they grow to be one? What do you do if you are a person like Geralt, who has sworn he doesn’t need anyone in the world whatsoever? And then he’s presented with a girl who is now solely in his care.”

Season two enlists several new cast members, including Yasen Atour as Coen, Agnes Bjorn as Vereena, Basil Eidenbenz as Eskel, Mecia Simson as Francesca, Kim Bodnia as Vesemir, Paul Bullion as Lambert, and Aisha Fabienne Ross as Lydia, among others.

The Witcher season two will premiere on Netflix on December 17. Watch the trailer for above.

Elsewhere on the streamer, Netflix’s official Hellbound trailer shows divine reckoning in Seoul.
