The Weeknd has teased his highly-anticipated collaboration with Playboi Carti at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival.
The joint played over the red carpet walk for The Idol, The Weeknd and Sam Levinson’s forthcoming HBO series, and hears 2000s-like production laid underneath the crooner’s humming vocals and Carti’s high-toned raps. Any additional information about the track, like its release date or whether it will appear in the soundtrack album of The Idol, were not revealed.
The Idol co-stars The Weeknd as nightclub owner and modern-day cult leader Tedros, and Lily Rose-Depp as popstar Jocelyn. “After a nervous breakdown derailed Jocelyn’s last tour, she’s determined to claim her rightful status as the greatest and sexiest pop star in America. Her passions are reignited by Tedros, a nightclub impresario with a sordid past,” its synopsis reads. “Will her romantic awakening take her to glorious new heights or the deepest and darkest depths of her soul?”
Check out the preview on Twitter. The Idol premieres on HBO Max on June 4.
