The Weeknd has dropped off the official music video for “Out of Time,” co-starring Squid Game alum HoYeon Jung and actor Jim Carrey.
The visual sees juxtaposed shots of the vocalist, whose real name is Abel Tesfaye, and Jung getting ready in separate hotel rooms before meeting in a dimly-lit elevator. After hitting it off on their descent, the duo takes to the karaoke room, where they belt the track’s lyrics to each other before taking off with their microphones across the establishment.
Following the star’s blissful rendezvous with Jung, the video’s final sequence sees Carrey take over in a stern, otherworldly voiceover. “Soon you’ll be healed, forgiven, and refreshed, free from all trauma, pain, guilt, and shame,” Carrey says before performing facial reconstructive surgery on the chart-topping vocalist.
Abel’s Dawn FM, which was released in January of this year, opened at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, moving 148,000 equivalent album units in its first week. The follow-up to 2020’s After Hours includes 16 tracks and features guest appearances from Tyler, the Creator, Lil Wayne, Quincy Jones, Oneohtrix Point Never and Carrey.
Last month, The Weeknd announced the official dates for his long-postponed North American After Hours Til Dawn Tour, which is set to kick off this summer and feature special guest Doja Cat. Abel’s first-ever stadium tour will commence on July 8 with a hometown show at Toronto’s Rogers Centre before heading to 17 additional destinations including New York, Philadelphia, Miami, Boston, Las Vegas and San Francisco, with a final stop at Los Angeles’ SoFi Stadium on September 2.
