The Polestar 5 Will Carry New Electric Powertrain Pushing Out 884 Horsepower

The Polestar 5 is now slated to make its public debut at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed and the electric vehicle maker has now revealed that the highly-anticipated model will be receiving a brand new powertrain pushing out a whopping 884 horsepower. To complement the car’s “unique bonded aluminum chassis,” Polestar has designed a new powertrain that’s currently under development in Sweden, where the automaker’s sibling company Volvo resides.

The setup will consist of two motors, with the one at the rear tapping into an 800-Volt architecture. Combined, the motors will churn out 884 horsepower and 663 pound-feet of torque.

“The new powertrain we are working on will set a new brand benchmark in our high-performing cars,” said Polestar CTO Jörg Brandscheid. “Combining strong electric motor engineering ability with advances in light-weight platform technology is leading to truly stunning driver’s cars.”

For those interested, definitely be on the lookout for when the Polestar 5 makes its first public appearance at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Elsewhere in the automotive industry, Bentley Mulliner has introduced its most luxurious Continental GT yet.
