James Gunn has unveiled the first official trailer for his highly anticipated Superman, marking a new chapter in DC‘s cinematic universe.
The two-and-a-half-minute minute first-look expands upon the preview given in the teaser trailer, which offered fans their first glimpse of the iconic hero in action, with Superman soaring above Metropolis’s cityscape, accompanied by a slowed-down rendition of John Williams‘ classic Superman theme. The trailer opens with a shot of Superman lying down immobile in the snow, blood spilling out of his mouth. Krypto begins to run toward his owner about halfway through the clip, as the fallen hero utters “Take me home.”
The upcoming film explores Superman’s journey to balance his Kryptonian roots with his human upbringing, promising a grounded yet inspiring narrative. David Corenswet brings a youthful warmth to the role, with Rachel Brosnahan delivering a sharp, modern interpretation of Lois Lane.
The trailer offers a peek into the Daily Planet newsroom, introducing characters like Skyler Gisondo’s Jimmy Olsen and Wendell Pierce’s Perry White. However, Lex Luthor – portrayed by Nicholas Hoult – remains shrouded in mystery for now, leaving fans eager to see how this iteration of the iconic villain will unfold.
Superman is set to hit theaters on July 11, 2025. Watch the trailer above.
