The Killers’ ‘Pressure Machine’ Is Powering to No. 1 In U.K.

The Killers’ ‘Pressure Machine’ Is Powering to No. 1 In U.K.

Also, notes the OCC, three of The Killers’ albums — Hot Fuss, Sam’s Town (2006) and Day & Age (2008) — have notched over one million U.K. chart sales, with the former bagging more than two million.

Hot Fuss single “Mr Brightside” is one of the most popular tracks in the U.K. this century. In April of this year, the song logged a record-extending 260th non-consecutive week — a full five years — on the national singles chart.

Meanwhile, electronic outfit Jungle are swinging to a third successive Top 10 album, with Loving In Stereo (Caiola). It’s new at No. 2 on the Official U.K. Chart Update, and is set to best the No. 7 peak of their Mercury Prize-nominated self-titled debut from 2014. Loving In Stereo is the best-selling album on wax in the first half of the week.

English singer and songwriter Jade Bird is flying to a second U.K. Top 10 with Different Kinds of Light (Glassnote). It’s the followup to her self-titled 2019 album, which also peaked at No. 10.

Another title new to the chart is When Facing Things We Turn Away From (Century Media), the debut solo album from 5 Seconds of Summer frontman Luke Hemmings. It’s new at No. 24 on the chart blast. As a member of 5SOS, Hemmings has two U.K. No. 1 albums, with 2014’s Sounds Good Feels Good and 2020’s CALM.

Finally, Whitney Houston’s career retrospective I Will Always Love You (Arista) could return to the Top 40 for the first time since 2012. It reenters the midweek chart at No. 37 following what would have been her 58th birthday and the release of a new documentary.

The U.K. singles chart race has a familiar feel to it as Ed Sheeran’s “Bad Habits” (Asylum) once again leads The Kid Laroi and Justin Bieber’s “Stay” (Columbia).

“Bad Habits” is lifted by a new drill remix featuring Tion Wayne and Central Cee, and is chasing an eighth straight week at No. 1.

The highest new entry on the chart blast belongs to London rapper Digga D, whose hip-hop track “Wasted” (Ega Music) featuring Arrdee, opens at No. 6.

The Official U.K. Singles and Albums Charts are published late Friday local time.
