Yow discusses how the record came to be, mentioning how band members Dwayne Denison and Mac McNeilly had been working on new ideas without his knowledge. Despite years apart, Yow explained that the band didn’t consciously try to replicate their old sound, but rather let things naturally evolve: “It’s going to sound like The Jesus Lizard no matter what we do.”

The frontman also reveals the backstory of the song “Hide and Seek,” inspired by Lars von Trier’s film The House That Jack Built. The conversation also covers the track “Lord Gadiva,” a 27-year-old song that the band never released until now. Yow remarks that while the lyrics may be brutal, he finds humor in lines like, “I’ve given golden showers to folks who’ve been dead for hours.”

He also discusses a few of his recent film roles, including the Tribeca darling A Desert, as well as teaming up with the band OFF for their Free LSD movie.
