In a lengthy tweet, The Game confirmed that he is postponing the release date of his upcoming album, DRILLMATIC, and also called out Rolling Stone for snubbing him in their latest “200 Greatest Hip Hop Albums of All Time” list.
The rapper took his aim at the publication for failing to include his 2005 studio album The Documentary in their list, stating the influence of the record. “@RollingStone how is “The Documentary” not on the list for 200 Greatest Rap Albums Of All Time? I carried an entire coast for 20 years on the back of my 1st album. Cause I don’t walk red carpets, play dress up, smile or fake laugh at brunches I don’t count?” he tweeted, adding at the end, “#Drillmatic July 1st[.]“
A reason for the delay was not revealed, but The Game promises that DRILLMATIC will allow listeners to “understand why I’m the best rapper alive.” He added in a now-deleted Instagram post, “My controversy has always stepped on my greatness, but that’s all about to change. This album has a strong hold on being the best album of my career. It’s just different…”
The Game’s DRILLMATIC – Mind Vs. Heart is executive produced by Hit-Boy and drops July 1.
