More than two decades after the original game’s launch, the Max Payne franchise is finally getting a remake.
The new project will reunite Remedy with Rockstar Games, the company behind Max Payne 3, and feature remakes of both the first Max Payne as well as Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne. Since the studios are still in their early “concept development stage,” not a lot of details have been revealed yet, but we do know that both games will release under a single title and utilize the Northlight game engine.
“Max Payne has always held a special place in the hearts of everyone at Remedy, and we know the millions of fans worldwide feel the same,” Remedy CEO Tero Virtala wrote in a press release. “We’re hugely excited to be working with our partners at Rockstar Games once again for the chance to bring the story, action and atmosphere of the original Max Payne games back to players in new ways.”
Unfortunately, there aren’t any release dates just yet for the remakes, but it’s due for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Stay tuned for more updates to come.
