A Monopolygame leak seems to have caused Stranger Things‘ creators the Duffer Brothers to be quite disappointed.
Leaks online of the official Monopoly game for the shoe appeared to have revealed key details regarding the plot of the forthcoming fourth season. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Netflix was not too thrilled with the mishap, but the Duffer Brothers have revealed that the streaming giant nor the Monopoly creators consulted with them on the game. Both brothers have longed valued secrecy for the series and were said to have had a “total meltdown” regarding the situation.
A Reddit thread revealed that a customer purchased the board game that featured the leak at a “nationally recognized retailer.” While many retailers are still selling Stranger Things Monopoly sets tied to previous seasons, there are some that are advertised to feature information from Season 4. Netflix recently announced that the fifth season of the series will be the Duffer brothers’ last. However, the brothers have also hinted in the past that they are looking at spin-offs for the show.
Volume 1 of season 4 is set to debut on May 27 with the second half to debut on July 1.
In other entertainment news, Adult Swim has announced a Rick and Morty anime spinoff.
