“I’m sorry, do you have some prior commitment?” No? Good, as The Devil Wears Prada has received a musical adaptation, and it’s coming to Chicago very soon.
For millennials working in fashion, this could be a “groundbreaking” entry into the world of musicals, as they can finally witness something dear to every fashionista’s heart — the moment they realised they too wanted to work for a glitzy magazine. Like the iconic 2006 film, the musical will see Andy Sachs become an integral part of Miranda Priestly’s operation, with a few trials and tribulations and plenty of stumbling efforts along the way.
Written by Kate Wetherhead, directed by Anna D. Shapiro and choreographed by James Alsop, The Devil Wears Prada: The Musical is set to be a hit. What’s more, Elton John — who’s known for his love of Broadway and writing many a musical song — has created the musical’s soundtrack, while Beth Leavel and Taylor Iman Jones will play Priestly and Sachs on stage, respectively.
The Devil Wears Prada: The Musical will head to Chicago’s James M. Nederlander Theatre from July 19-21, and as i-D reports, it’s presumed New Yorkers will be able to catch the show in 2023. Tickets for the Chicago shows can be ordered here. “That’s all.”
In other news, a docuseries about David Beckham is in the works.
