‘The Batman’ Officially Surpasses ‘Justice League,’ Hitting $627.8 Million USD at Global Box Office

The Batman has hit yet another global box office milestone in its third weekend out.

The Matt Reeves-helmed DC film has officially surpassed Zack Snyder‘s 2016 Justice League. In Robert Pattinson‘s debut as the Caped Crusader, the film has brought in $340.9 million USD internationally and $331.9 million USD domestically for a combined $672.8 million USD globally. The film surmounts Justice League by just a hair, which hit $667.9 million USD.

While the feat is still noteworthy, The Batman‘s box office numbers do not compare to pre-COVID DC releases. Wonder Woman garnered $822 million USD and Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice hit $873.6 million USD. Other films including The Dark Knight, The Dark Knight Rises,Joker and Aquaman made over $1 billion USD at the box office. Currently, Pattinson’s brooding version of Batman sits comfortably at the top spot at box offices. He stars alongside Paul Dano, Zoë Kravitz, Colin Farrell and Jeffrey Wright. The film currently has an 85% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

It remains to be seen how the numbers will continue to climb in the following weeks.
