Despite also receiving a theatrical release, Matt Reeves’ The Batman still proved to be a success on streaming services as it logged the second-highest first week viewership for a theatrical film on HBO Max.

According to reports, Warner Bros. announced that the Robert Pattinson-led film was streamed by 4.1 million Smart TV households during its first week on HBO Max. It falls behind Mortal Kombat’s 4.3 million figure from Spring 2021 but is considerably higher than Warner Bros.’ HBO Max releases in 2021, including The Suicide Squad’s 3.5 million households, Wonder Woman 1984 and The Matrix Resurrections’ 3.2 million each, Dune’s 2.3 million and Zack Snyder’s Justice League’s 2.2 million.

Over in theaters, The Batman has so far been Warner Bros.’ most successful movie since 2019’s Joker, earning over $750 million USD as of mid-April. It scored the second-biggest opening week of the pandemic era, grossing $128.5 million USD at the domestic box office in March.

Elsewhere in entertainment, Johnny Depp shared during his deposition that he will not be returning as Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribbean series.
