If our statistics are anything to go by, lockdown 2.0 is seeing a surge in sales of puffer coats. We’ll have to wait and see if there will be the same increased demand for jigsaws and Farrow and Ball paint, however judging by the sales referred by Who What Wear over the past few days, everyone is on the hunt for the warmest coat they can find. With walks with one person outside of your household still permitted this lockdown, warm winter outfits have never been so vital.
I have been on my own hunt to find the perfect puffer coat over the past week, and after hours of trawling, I settled on the maxi down coat from Arket. If my social life is going to be al fresco in December, I want to be cocooned in as much padding as possible. It comes in black, khaki and camel, and has a cosy hood and slits with popper fastenings on each side meaning you can adjust it to allow for more movement. It doesn’t just tick the practical and stylish boxes, but is made from sustainable materials too. The coat is manufactured using recycled down and feathers, while the outside shell is made from matte recycled nylon and recycled-polyester yarn made from used plastic bottles. And did we mention it’s very warm?
