“Love Island” super fans, we’re going to let you in on a little secret: you can get your hands on the exact outfits the Islanders have worn throughout the series. And it’s all for a good cause.
Around 200 million tonnes of clothes end up in landfill every single year in the UK. So, in a bid to beat the fast fashion crisis, “Love Island” committed to dressing its contestants exclusively in secondhand clothing from eBay. And now, after being worn in the Mallorcan villa, some of these preloved items are being resold in a public auction on the show’s sponsor’s site. So, whether you’ve had your head turned by Ekin-Su’s Hervé Leger bodycon dress, or have dreamt of coupling up with Gemma’s gold sequin House of CB number, you better act fast.
Exactly 40 items are up for grabs on the eBay x Love Island auction hub right now. So, there’s enough choice to ensure that you’re shopping sustainably and buying a piece that will remain your type on paper forever. Every single penny raised will be donated to Oxfam, and the auction is being hosted by preloved seller and secondhand fashion champion Reskinned.
The starting prices were set at 99p per item, but “Love Island” devotees have already raised the prices with some generous bids. Luca’s Palm Angels x Smiley Collection Black Bomber is racking up bids already, and the asking price sits at £51 at the time of writing. Other items up for grabs are the Sandro Shirt worn by Davide, Tasha’s Red Satin Champion Varsity Jacket, Amber’s Purple Poster Girl Dress, and Antigoni’s Calvin Klein Jeans Cropped Denim Jacket.
The auction is live until Monday 11 July, so you’ve got a few days to bid on your very own piece of “Love Island” memorabilia.
