We’ve gotten to that time of year when we’re starting to look ahead to January—it always helps when the final months of 2021 are looking a little limp. Armed with the S/S 22 runway looks (full trend guide coming soon), the editors at Who What Wear have been predicting what will be hitting stores in the next 12 months. With temperatures dropping below 10ºC, it only feels natural that we focus our attention on knitwear, specifically pieces that will look fresh next year but can also be worn now.
Many of 2022’s jumper trends will have carried over from 2021, while others may well be styles you already have in your wardrobe (a win-win situation if you ask us). So what do we think will be given the sartorial spotlight in the New Year? Well, the preppy vibe is going nowhere, manifesting in everything from cable-knits to nerdy knitted vests (a personal fave). On the other end of the spectrum, you can expect some sultrier offerings in the form of cute cut-outs and sparkling party cardigans. You’ll also be glad to hear that there’s a generous dose of colour coming your way, which is sure to brighten up those dreary January days.
