Tesla's New Giga Lab Shows How It Builds Its Cars in 45 Seconds

Tesla has officially opened its first Giga Lab in Chengdu, China. The new retail model doubles as an interactive showroom in which visitors can visualize how the brand’s iconic models are manufactured in just 45 seconds as well as a store in which visitors can walk away with a brand-new EV. The minimalist aesthetic, featuring steel and concrete finishes, aims to mimic the environment of Tesla’s Shanghai GigaFactory.

An unfinished Tesla Model 3 chassis can be seen suspended in the middle of the space accompanied by giant red robot arms as seen on the assembly lines. Individual car parts are exhibited to educate visitors on the inner workings of the vehicles, meanwhile, free seating and meeting rooms are present to accommodate guests. Fully built Tesla models are also parked freely inside and outside the store for customers to experience the cars in full.
