Tesla Recalls Over Two Million EVs Due to the Warning Light Text Being Too Small

Tesla has yet again launched another massive recall of its electric vehicles, this time due to non-compliance with federal guidelines from the National Highway Traffic Administration for font size.

According to the NHTSA, the right font size is imperative for warning lights and as such, Tesla appears to have violated to guideline, forcing them to recall almost 2.2 million EVS, which is almost all the cars the company has sold in the U.S. Tesla is being held accountable for having the warning light text font too small of a size. Fortunately for Tesla and its customers, this can be changed with a simple update and will not require drivers to bring their EVs into a repair shop or dealership.

The problem was noted during a routine NHTSA check lat month when it found that the text on the park, brake and antilock brake warning lights were far smaller than what was listed by the federal rules. Due to its hard to read nature, it could potentially cause increased crashes. The affected models include the Model S (model years 2012-2023), Model X (2016-2023), Model 3 (2017-2023), Model Y (2019-2024) and the Cybertruck. In the past, Tesla has had to recall cars due to its Autopilot issue, but this has since been solved. This is not the first time the NHTSA has flagged Tesla’s vehicles for complaints and issues that link to crashes or the potential of accidents.
