Tesla is selling more accessories for the Cybertruck, even though the vehicle itself has been recalled twice in the past three months. In April, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) responded to reports that the Cybertruck’s accelerator pedal had become dislodged, causing it to get stuck under the interior trim and preventing users from braking.
Last month, the cars were recalled again by the NHTSA due to a defect where the windshield wiper stopped working due to electrical overstress.
As Tesla continues to push the Cybertruck despite the recent issues, the company has listed a $300 USD tailgate shield and $100 USD jumpseat on its website. The jumpseat is essentially just a collapsible seat for hanging out in the truck while camping.
The tailgate shield, on the other hand, is somewhat ironic given Tesla has lauded the Cybertruck as bulletproof. A marketing video released at the beginning of the year even showcased shooters firing bullets into the car’s alloy exterior.
To be fair, the tailgate shield is billed as protecting the rear specifically while transporting gear. Buyers already shelling out for the $61,000 USD for the car may want to opt for the shield to prevent scratches while hauling bikes.
