Tesla has raised the prices of its electric vehicles, marking the second hike within the month. Last week, the automaker tacked on an additional $1,000 USD to a few of its long-range models.
In an overnight update, Tesla once again raised its prices. The cheapest car to come out of the automaker, the Model 3, went up $2,000 USD and now starts at $47,000 USD.
Other increases include the Model 3 Dual-Motor All-Wheel Drive, now $2,500 USD more expensive at $54,490 USD, and the Performance version, which will cost drivers an additional $3,000 USD at $61,990 USD.
The prices of Tesla vehicles have been gradually increasing throughout 2021, so this latest move isn’t entirely surprising. Elon Musk recently hinted at a potential hike on Twitter, writing that Tesla and SpaceX are seeing a “significant recent inflation pressure in raw materials [and] logistics.” While he didn’t expand further, Musk linked an article about commodity prices soaring to an all-time high due to shortage fears in Russia.

This coincides with Tesla experiencing a surge of new orders due to the rise in gas prices, according to Elektrek. The automaker reportedly saw a 100% increase in its order rate this past week.
