Turns out we haven’t seen the last of Ted Lasso.
According to Deadline, Apple TV+ is moving forward with a fourth season of the popular English soccer comedy. The streamer recently picked up the options of three core cast members — Hannah Waddingham (Rebecca Walton), Brett Goldstein (Roy Kent), and Jeremy Swift (Leslie Higgins) — and preparations have been made to open a writers room.
Deadline notes that Ted Lasso star and co-creator Jason Sudeikis does not yet have a deal in place, but it’s unlikely that Apple TV+ would have begun development on a fourth season “without his consent.” It’s expected that Apple will also reach new deals to bring back Brendan Hunt (Coach Beard) and Juno Temple (Keeley Jones).
Apple TV+ is reportedly hoping to begin production on season four of Ted Lasso in early 2025.
Sudeikis previously suggested that season 3 would be Ted Lasso’s final season. “The story that I know is the one that I wanted to tell, and so that’s the one we’re telling with the help of numerous people in front of and behind the camera, Sudeikis told Entertainment Weekly in 2022. “The story that’s being told – that three-season arc – is one that I see, know, and understood. I’m glad that [Apple TV+] are willing to pay for those three seasons.” To that point, the finale of season 3 certainly felt like the end of the series.

However, Sudeikis never entirely ruled out a fourth season of Ted Lasso, and other cast members have expressed their desire to keep the show going. Last month, co-creator Bill Lawrence said the decision was entirely up to Sudeikis, explaining: “As fans, we’d all kill if it was going again, but everybody would say the same thing, which is: Whatever Jason feels like doing, and whatever his decision is, we’re all down with it.”
“Not only is he the star, he’s the head writer, and he’s also the dude whose life just has to be completely overhauled and moved to a foreign country with young children,” Lawrence continued. “It’s a big deal. So, as a fan, if someone’s like, ‘Oh, it’s gonna happen again,’ I’ll go nuts. As a partner, I’m down for whatever he wants to do.”
