Team Lebron edged out a 163-160 victory over Team Durant during Sunday night’s 75th-Anniversary 2022 NBA All-Star Game.
Stephen Curry dropped a record-breaking 16 three-pointers, the most three-pointers recorded in any game in NBA history for a game-high 50 points. LeBron James, who brought out the chalk for his classic pre-game ritual, hit the winning turn-around dagger to secure the win for his team, ending the night with 24 points, 6 rebounds, and 8 assists. The victory means Team LeBron continues to stay undefeated since the format change in 2018 with an overall record of 5-0.
“It was kind of a perfect ending. Obviously, I got the MVP; I played well the whole night. He hit the game-winner. All the history of our series and the Akron ties, and all that kind of going into how the night went, so it was pretty, can’t really draw it up any other way,” said Curry after he was announced the All-Star Game MVP.
“I could not have dreamed of that moment any better than the actuality that just happened,” James added after hitting the final shot in his hometown. “For me to be back here, like I keep stating, 35 minutes of where I grew up here in Akron, Ohio, to hit the game-winner in the All-Star Game where me and my guys back in the back, we used to watch the All-Star Game. I remember 25 years ago we were 11, 12, wishing that we had the opportunity or the means to come up to Cleveland and see some of the greatest basketball players of all time because they inspired us so much.”
