Baobab Fare is one of the most popular restaurants in the city. It’s also one of the most well-known in the region serving African cuisine, specifically dishes from Burundi, the homeland of Baobab’s husband and wife owners.
This Sunday, July 16, the restaurant and four others serving dishes from the continent will be taking part in the First Taste: Africa festival happening at Birmingham First Church.
Festival organizer Rev. Dr. Charles Boayue, Jr., Senior Pastor of Birmingham First, and Nadia Nijimbere Mamba, owner of Baobab Fare, joined CultureShift to discuss what it’s like serving African food in Metro Detroit and what they hope to accomplish with this event.
