In the hum of Milan fashion week, photographer Talia Chetrit reveals her most comprehensive exhibition to date. Bearing the intimacy of its title, Gut evokes the visceral and vulnerable at once. The show gathers works from 1994 to 2023, creating a dialogue between Chetrit’s personal and public worlds in a lyrical display of images.
In the crescendo of her artistic career, Chetrit’s instinctive approach to composition is made evident. Through a series of self-portraits, family scenes, still lifes, and street photography, each image invites viewers to reflect on the nature of human relationships in its own light. Blending emotional intensity with daring pictorial structure, Chetrit captures what it means to be both behind and in front of the lens.
Presented by 10 Corso Como at their concept store in Milan, Gut is part of a series that showcases artists at the intersection of art and fashion. While Chetrit has shot photo campaigns for brands like Celine, Phoebe Philo, and Acne Studios, her personal work uses fashion as a narrative tool through imaginative choreography and clothing.
Placing recent work beside photographs taken during her teenage years, the artist finds charm in the up close and afar. Between blurry subjects caught with a telephoto lens and intimate self-portraits, Chetrit tenderly blurs boundaries of fact and fiction.
Gut will be on view at 10 Corso Como in Milan from September 18 through November 17, 2024.
