Earlier this month, AO Racing‘s “GT3 Raw,” a custom Porsche 911 GT3 R named after “Rexy” the Tyrannosaurus Rex made its debut at Twelve Hours of Sebring. Already a fan-favorite, the “GT3-Rawr” will be competing for AO Racing for the rest of the 2023 IMSA WeatherTech and World Endurance Championship season.
The idea behind”Rexy” comes from team principal and driver PJ Hyett who proudly wears a T-Rex for his son and a unicorn for his daughter on his racing helmet. This season, Hyett will be joined by co-drivers Sebastian Priaulx and Gunnar Jeannette for the endurance rounds.
“I’m thrilled to be one of the guys that will drive the GT3-Rawr. Hopefully, Rexy goes as fast as it looks and we can come home with a good result after our disappointing Daytona. We really want to give the fans something to cheer for as Rexy makes it’s mark both on & off track,” said Gunnar Jeannette.
While AO Racing’s finish was unable to finish at the front of the pack in the 1,000 miles of Sebring, it has plenty of opportunities to get back on course beginning with its race at Long Beach next month.
