ABC has shared a first look at the upcoming second season of Abbott Elementary.
The teaser confirms the return of lead actress and creator Quinta Brunson, Tyler James Williams, Lisa Ann Walter, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Janelle James and Chris Perfetti as Abbott Elementary staff Janine Teagues, Gregory Eddie, Melissa Schemmenti, Barbara Howard, Ava Coleman and Jacob Hill, and sees them walking towards the doors of Abbott Elementary only for Ava’s keys to not work on the main doors. As Ava tries to open the doors, Janine suggests that they have a “heartfelt discussion” about what they are excited for in the new school year, but the other teachers are not interested and just walk away.
Season two will have a total of 22 episodes — almost double the 13 episodes of season one as the demand for the show rose. The first season is currently in the running for seven Emmy nominations, including Outstanding Comedy Series and Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series and Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for Brunson.
