Paramount has just dropped two new trailers for Sonic the Hedgehog 2, offering fans a closer look at Knuckles’ silver screen debut in the franchise.
Scheduled to hit cinemas this April, the new sequel will be a direct follow-up to the original Sonic the Hedgehog in 2020, with director Jeff Fowler coming back to helm the new project. Ben Schwartz and James Marsden will both reprise their roles as Sonic and Tom Wachowski, now joined by new additions Idris Elba and Colleen O’Shaughnessey, who will be voicing for Knuckles and Tails respectively. Jim Carrey‘s Doctor Eggman will also be coming back to hunt down the blue speedster once again with his high-tech drones and hovercrafts, making his return from the mushroom world following the events of the first film.
According to the synopsis:
“After settling in Green Hills, Sonic is eager to prove he has what it takes to be a true hero. His test comes when Dr. Robotnik returns, this time with a new partner, Knuckles, in search for an emerald that has the power to destroy civilizations. Sonic teams up with his own sidekick, Tails, and together they embark on a globe-trotting journey to find the emerald before it falls into the wrong hands.”
For fans of the franchise, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 will arrive at theatres on April 8.
