First Look and Title Revealed for David O. Russell’s New Film Starring Christian Bale and Margot Robbie

Word’s been out for a while that Christian Bale, Margot Robbie, and John David Washington are set to star in David O. Russell’s unnamed next film, but now, we finally have some concrete details about the project, as well as a first look photo featuring the trio. The movie, called Amsterdam, hits theaters on November 4th. The first details about Amsterdam arrived at Disney’s CinemaCon presentation on Wednesday, so the official description of the film is naturally a little vague. Set in the 1930s, Amsterdam “is an original romantic crime epic about three close friends who find themselves at the center of one of the most shocking secret plots in American history.” In addition to the three close friends of Bale, Robbie, and Washington, the film’s stacked cast also includes Robert De ...

Marvel’s Avengers Cast to Assemble for Joe Biden Fundraiser

Fictional or not, Marvel’s The Avengers are assembling in support of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. As Variety reports, the blockbuster stars behind Disney’s billion-dollar franchise will soon get together for a virtual fundraiser. Set for October 20th at 6:45 p.m. ET, the event will see Don Cheadle, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Paul Rudd, Mark Ruffalo, Zoe Saldana, and the Russo brothers reunite for some Q&A and trivia with Harris. Most of these names should come as no surprise for anyone. After all, both Evans and Ruffalo alone have been incredibly vocal over the importance of this election. Some have even pestered Cap on whether he might one day run himself. Of course, that roster is about a third of the actual on-screen Avengers, which certainly leaves the door open for countless...

Zoe Saldana Apologizes For Taking On The Role of Nina Simone

Source: photo: screencap Over the years Zoe Saldana has taken some unprovoked missteps in her career including making some suspect statements regarding race and even defending Donald Trump, but it all seemed to begin crashing down for the Dominican actress when she took on the role of Nina Simone in 2016’s biopic, Nina. The backlash was immediate and unforgiving and though she tried to defend her decision to take a role that should’ve gone to a Black woman, that too fell flat on it’s face. Now four years later the La Colombiana actress regrets not only taking on the role, but also not doing enough to ensure it went to the right actress. During an IG Live interview with Pose co-creator and executive producer Steven Canals, the two were speaking about how far Afro-Latinos h...

Zoe Saldana Apologizes For Playing Nina Simone in Biopic

In a new interview, Zoe Saldana says she’s “sorry” for playing Nina Simone in the 2016 biopic, Nina. The actress opened up about the experience during a Bese interview with Steven Canals, co-creator of FX’s Pose, saying, “Nina had a life and a journey that should be honored to the specific detail.” Saldana’s comment comes years after she was criticized for playing the legendary singer, ultimately wearing dark makeup, a prosthetic nose, and false teeth for the film. “I should have done everything in my power with the leverage that I had 10 years ago — which was a different leverage, but it was leverage nonetheless — I should have tried everything in my power to cast a Black woman to play an exceptionally perfect Black woman,” Saldana tol...

Center Stage Gave Us Zoe Saldana, Mandy Moore, and the Dance Film of a Generation

On May 12, 2000 many lives were changed forever. But most of us didn’t know it, because we were too young to get ourselves to a movie theater without a ride from our parents. On May 12, 2000, the motion picture Center Stage came to theaters. The teen movie focuses on Jody Sawyer and her fellow students at the American Ballet Academy (ABA). Only the best of the best get in, and every student is fighting for a spot in the company. Unfortunately Jody has bad feet, but is reluctantly accepted into the school because of her stage presence. Along the way, Jody discovers jazz, and has a romantic relationship with Cooper Nielsen, the male star of the company and teacher. In that a man helps a woman discover jazz, it’s sort of like La La Land, but more deserving of accidentally being announced as t...
