HBO is gearing up to release the second of two special bonus episodes of Euphoria. It’s called “Part 2: Jules”, or more specifically, “F*ck Anyone Who’s Not A Sea Blob”, and it’s currently scheduled to air on January 24th. The upcoming special will pick up where “Part 1: Rue” left off this past Sunday. That Christmas-themed episode focused on the aftermath of Zendaya’s Roe being left by Jules at the train station and relapsing. In the new Sam Levinson-directed special, Jules (played by Hunter Schafer) reflects on her year during the holiday break and gets caught up in decoding those memories. According to a press release, Schafer co-wrote and co-executive produced it alongside Levinson. Catch the second special episode live when it airs on HBO at 9:00 p.m. EST on January 24th, or watch it ...
On the heels of Zendaya’s Best Actress win at the Emmys, HBO has announced two special bonus episodes of Euphoria. The first, titled “Trouble Don’t Last Always”, will air on HBO and stream on HBO Max beginning December 6th. According to a plot synopsis provided by HBO, the episode takes place during Christmas, in the aftermath of Zendaya’s Roe being left by Jules at the train station and relapsing. Series creator Sam Levinson wrote and directed the episode. The title and premiere date of the second episode are forthcoming. Both specials were produced under COVID-19 guidelines. Euphoria wrapped up its first season in August 2019. Due to the pandemic, production on Season 2 was postponed until early 2021, so HBO is hoping these bonus episodes will tide fans over in the meantime. Last month, ...
Zendaya has signed on to star in a new biopic about Ronnie Spector. Deadline reports that A24 has secured the rights to Spector’s memoir, Be My Baby, and is circling Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Jackie Sibblies Drury to write the film’s script. Originally published in 1990, Be My Baby recounts Spector’s roller-coaster career as lead singer of the Ronettes, her emotionally abusive marriage to the Phil Spector, and her resurgence as a solo singer. Zendaya was apparently handpicked by Spector herself, and A24 leveraged its existing relationship with the actress through Euphoria to close the deal. Both Zendaya and Spector will also serve as producers on the project. Earlier this month, Zendaya made history by becoming the youngest woman to ever win the Emmy for Best Actress – Drama. ...
Source: ABC / Getty it was a fantastic night for Black Hollywood during the 72nd annual Primetime Emmy Awards. Despite the COVID-19 global pandemic still being a thing, the show went on as television’s brightest all converged on Hollywood virtually, while in the safety of their own watch party bubbles and homes. We not gonna lie, while watching Schitt’s Creek sweep all comedy categories, which meant that Insecure coming off its best season, nabbed one award out its 8 nominations, we were beginning to worry if it was gonna be a long night. BUT, it was refreshing to see Dan Levy, who won awards for writing, directing, and supporting actor shoutout of Issa Rae’s hit HBO comedy series in one his acceptance speeches. “I want to recognize Issa Rae and the writers on Insecure for writi...
Zendaya made history with her win for Best Actress in a Drama during the 2020 Emmy Awards. With her victory, the 24-year-old Euphoria actress became not only the youngest winner in the category’s history, but also the second-ever Black woman to win the award. (Viola Davis was the first Black woman to win the Emmy for Best Actress in a Drama in 2015.) “I know this feels like a really weird time to be celebrating,” Zendaya said in her acceptance speech. “But I just want to say that there is hope in the young people out there. I know that our TV show doesn’t always feel like a great example of that, but there is hope in the young people. And I just want to say to all my peers out there doing the work in the streets, I see you, I admire you, I thank you.” Season 2 of Euphoria was expected...
Source: Steven Ferdman / Getty Vivica Fox is all for a Kill Bill sequel, but with a new spin. During an interview with NME, Vivica Fox revealed her ideas for the follow up sequel, that will be the first in 17 years, to the cult classic. The actress, who played Vernita Green in the 2003 classic and now stars in drug kingpin thriller Arkansas, confirmed last month that Quentin Tarantino and Uma Thurman were in talks with the real possibility of a sequel. “I haven’t got any official word, I had a feeling that hopefully [Tarantino] was waiting on [the actress who plays] my daughter to grow up a little bit,” Fox said. “But then I was doing an interview and they asked ‘What young actress would you get to play your daughter?’ and I was like ‘No, Ambrosia [Kelley]!’ but they meant an est...
While everyone was busy socially distancing and following quarantine rules, Zendaya and John David Washington were filming a new movie — and not from the comfort of their computer screens or private homes either. The movie is called Malcolm & Marie and it’s directed by Sam Levinson, the creator of Euphoria. The group shot scenes discreetly between June 17th and July 2nd at the Caterpillar House, an “an environmentally conscious glass architectural marvel” in Carmel, California, reports Deadline. What’s more, production on the film is apparently already completed. The idea first came from Zendaya, who called Levinson asking if he could write and direct a movie during quarantine. Within six days, he had a script ready to go and the hope of casting the Tenet star alongside her. The next b...
