But celebs have been stepping up virtually, and the latest star set to address the graduating class will be Beyoncé Knowles-Carter, among others, via YouTube Originals’ Dear Class of 2020 event this June. The folks over at Two Minutes to Late Night have delivered yet another stellar quarantine performance, with Clutch singer Neil Fallon leading a rousing cover of AC/DC’s “Riff Raff”. Like the previous videos in the “Bedroom Covers” series, the AC/DC performance features each musician performing from his own home. Interestingly enough, this series was conceived before the pandemic, and a few of the artists recorded and filmed their contributions as early as January. Two Minutes to Late Night host Gwarsenio Hall (aka Jordan Olds), a constant in all of these videos, sings and performs bass on the AC/DC cover. Deftones Hosting Diamond Eyes 10th Anniversary Listening Party
Deftones are celebrating the 10th anniversary of their sixth album, Diamond Eyes, by hosting a listening party on YouTube. The event takes place Tuesday night (May 5th), and will allow fans to “virtually chill with the band” and listen to the entire album. Diamond Eyes actually turned 10 years old on Monday, having been released on May 4th, 2010. The album was a pivotal one for Deftones as it marked their first without late bassist Chi Cheng, who at the time was in a coma as the result of a car crash. The band had started another album, the never-released Eros, with Cheng, but ultimately decided to start fresh with Diamond Eyes and new bassist Sergio Vega. YouTube has announced a video graduation ceremony for the class of 2020, as students currently won’t be able to celebrate in person due to the coronavirus pandemic. The virtual pomp-and-circumstance will feature commencement addresses by Barack Obama and Michelle Obama as well as appearances by Lady Gaga, BTS, and more. The special, dubbed “Dear Class of 2020”, promises “festival-style lineup” with a variety of programming. There will be formal speeches, graduation day-themed discussions, and even musical performances — all while adhering to quarantine restrictions.
