Afenifere disowns, condemns quit notice to Igbo people

The Pan Yoruba sociopolitical group, Afenifere, on Saturday distanced and disowned itself from the ultimatum some Nigerian national, especially the Inbox to vacate the southern region within the next 48 hours. The group who stated this in a statement issued by the leader of the group, Pa Reuben Fasoranti and signed by the General Secretary of the group, Chief Sehinde Arogbofa, said such directive does not emanate from the group. Afenifere: Pa Fasanmi lived a fulfilled life

Yoruba socio-cultural group, Afenifere, says the late Pa Ayo Fasanmi who died on Wednesday at the age of 94 lived a life of fulfillment. The Spokesman for Afenifere, Mr. Yinka Odumakin, said this in a telephone interview with newsmen on Thursday. He said, “He lived a long life of fulfillment and we pray his soul rests in perfect peace.” Odumakin said the group would send in a tribute to the late Yoruba leader later. Pastor William Kumuyi authors Yoruba Bible

The General Superintendent of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry, Pastor William Kumuyi, has authored a Yoruba Bible concordance, called Bibeli Mimo Atoka. The cleric, with the support of a team of Yoruba scholars, reportedly spent 15 years on the project, which was published by the Bible Society of Nigeria. According to a broadcast by the church, the new scripture is “one of the most reliable and readable Bibles” for personal study and teaching. “Bibeli Mimo Atoka offers the most literally accurate translation from the original while keeping the integrity of the Bible. “This new version takes care of changes that have occurred over time in the meaning of some expressions found in ancient Yoruba and makes the Bible more comprehensible and relevant to today’s readers,” the church added. Popular fuji singer, Wasiu Alabi, aka Pasuma, has disclosed that the current crop of young Yoruba artistes in the country prefer the hip-hop genre over fuji, which he said has been relegated to the background. Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq on Saturday said that the COVID-19 pandemic has forced the country to come to terms with the reality of migrating to a full IT driven economy.
