Knock2‘s breakthrough house hit “dashstar*” has received the trap treatment from none other than Yellow Claw. The bass-heavy track was a big part of Knock2’s meteoric rise in 2022, a year that saw him catapult to dance music stardom and perform at a slew of headline shows and major festivals, including his colossal debut at EDC Las Vegas. Now that the influential trap music duo Yellow Claw have put their twist on “dashstar*,” the track has gained even more steam heading into 2023, which has the feel of a monster year for the San Diego-based prodigy. In classic Claw fashion, they embellish “dashstar*” with heavy 808s right from the start before flipping the song’s distinct lead sounds into a frenetic sequence of distorted synths and eerie pluc...

Lollapalooza is set to turn 30 this year in stunning fashion. It’s been a whirlwind of a week for the Chicago based festival. After a surprising report suggested the City of Chicago gave Lollapalooza the green light to host their 2021 edition “at near-to or full capacity” a mere three days ago, organizers C3 Presents have now dropped a massive lineup that appears to corroborate the news. As is typically the case, Lollapalooza’s bookings span the decades and defy a bias towards any particular genre, from Foo Fighters to Journey, and Miley Cyrus to Tyler The Creator. For dance music, Marshmello and ILLENIUM find themselves near the top of the bill with the trifecta of Alison Wonderland, SLANDER, and Steve Aoki a couple lines further down. In the heart of the...
For the sixth episode of the animated series inspired by the popular mobile game Arknights, developers tapped Steve Aoki and RUNN to soundtrack their narrative back in July. The result was the wobble-heavy bass track “Last Of Me” and its accompanying music video. Now, the duo is back with new recruits, Yellow Claw, for the seventh episode’s theme song. Titled “End Like This,” the new collaboration will help celebrate the game’s first anniversary. Like the previous theme, RUNN leads the charge with an empowering vocal offering. Moving away from the bassier side of the electronic music spectrum, the new release is decidedly less heavy than its predecessor. While still appropriate for the epic scale of the story it represents, the song would likely fi...
Those who crushed an entire turkey dinner last night can attest that the next-day Thanksgiving hangover is very real. Bass music kingpin Dirty Audio has unveiled the latest trap masterstroke to hit his catalog, his filthy new remix of Yellow Claw and Gammer‘s “Here to Stay (feat. Nanami).” Considering the talent of its creators, the original tune was massive in its own right, but Dirty Audio’s flip gives it a more modern hybrid trap feel by replacing its cinematic components with bass music elements. The first drop features downright nasty sound design, with rollicking synth stabs layered over crunchy saw patches. Dirty Audio then switches it up for the second drop, opting for a rave-ready four-on-the-floor rhythm that yearns for the warehouses of pre-pandemic yesteryear before closing out the remix by bringing it all home with a frenetic third and final drop. Along with ...
