Report: West Brom ‘desperate’ to sign 29-cap int’l who has ‘knuckled’ down in training

According to reports from The Sun, West Brom manager Sam Allardyce is ‘desperate’ to sign Danny Rose from Tottenham Hotspur this month. The 29-times capped England international is not in Jose Mourinho’s first-team plans. He is without a squad number, and is likely to end his 13-year association with the north London club this month. The report claims that Rose has ‘knuckled down in training’ and played in several Under-23 fixtures for Spurs in order to keep himself fit. The 30-year-old has a contract at the club till the end of the season and could be cancelled by mutual consent. The Baggies are looking to add more depth and quality in defence and Allardyce has earmarked Rose as a potential option. They may have to offload Kieran Gibbs to make room for his potential arrival...

Premier League 2020/21 Week 19: EPL Results & Table

The 19th round of fixtures in the Premier League features some important matches at both ends of the table. Liverpool versus Manchester United is the standout game, with the two old enemies set to go head-to-head at Anfield on Sunday. The lunchtime match at Molineux got the weekend off to a thrilling start as West Bromwich Albion triumphed 3-2 against Wolverhampton Wanderers. Wolves led 2-1 at the break, with Fabio Silva and Willy Boly turning things around after Matheus Pereira’s penalty had given the Baggies an early lead. However, goals in the second half by Semi Ajayi and another Pereira penalty gave Sam Allardyce his first victory as West Brom manager. There are two games at 3.00 pm, with West Ham United hosting Burnley while Leeds United take on Brighton & Hove Albion. HALF-TIME ...

Report: West Brom looking to sign Aston Villa target on a free transfer

West Bromwich Albion are looking to sign Rennes midfielder Clement Grenier on a free transfer this month, a report from Football Insider claims. The Baggies are aiming to bolster their squad this month and they have already landed the services of Robert Snodgrass on a permanent basis from West Ham United. It is now reported that they are interested in signing Grenier, who has under six months left on his contract with Rennes. The France international has been in-and-out of the lineup at Rennes this term and he has started just seven of his 14 appearances. Grenier has recently found form with two goals and one assist in the last four games, but he has still been tipped to head through the exit door. Rennes are reportedly experiencing financial concerns with their reduced revenue amid the ou...

Louie Barry: From Barcelona to Birmingham

Aston Villa striker, Louie Barry, had the ‘best moment’ of his life, scoring against Liverpool in the FA Cup on Friday. A COVID-19 outbreak at Villa meant that they had to play a side consisting of their U23s and U18s. With Liverpool 1-0 up, the 17-year-old broke clear and finished past Caoimhin Kelleher like a seasoned pro. Liverpool ended up winning 4-1, but for Barry it was an incredible occasion as he scored against the reigning Premier League champions. But, even before this big moment for the youngster, Barry was very much in demand. Barry was nurtured by West Bromwich Albion from the age of six. However, he turned down the offer of a professional contract at West Brom in favour of a move to Barcelona. Barry was one of the hottest young prospects in Europe and he was attracting ...

Report: Queens Park Rangers in advanced talks to sign West Bromwich Albion star

Queens Park Rangers are in advanced negotiations to sign former striker Charlie Austin on loan from West Bromwich Albion for the season. Austin bagged 10 goals during the Baggies’ promotion from the Championship last season, but he has not been able to make his mark this term. The 31-year-old has been restricted to only five Premier League appearances, all of which have come from the substitutes’ bench. According to Sky Sports reporter Mark McAdam, Rangers are in advanced talks with the Baggies over a loan deal for Austin, who played for them between 2013 and 2016. Austin was a huge hit during his time at the west London side with 47 goals and 11 assists from just 89 appearances in all competitions. He is no longer at the prime of his career, but his return could bring about a change of fo...

Report: Club told NUFC are willing to pay £15m for West Ham striking target

According to The Sun, English Championship outfit Bournemouth have been told Newcastle United would be willing to part with £15 million for the services of Norwegian striker Josh King this month. The 28-year-old is also on the radar of West Ham United as they look to replace the Ajax-bound Sebastien Haller, but they aren’t ready to meet the Cherries’ demands. West Bromwich Albion also want King, and theirs and Newcastle’s interest have driven the striker’s value up. Baggies manager Sam Allardyce needs a striker that can fire his side to safety, while his Magpies counterpart Steve Bruce wants to boost his attacking options given his side’s struggles in front of goal so far this term. West Ham manager David Moyes wanted the Bournemouth star in the summer, but the £13 million deal the Hammers...

Report: West Bromwich Albion favourites to sign West Ham United attacker permanently

West Bromwich Albion are in advanced negotiations with West Ham United over a permanent deal for Robert Snodgrass, Sky Sports News reports. The Baggies are currently second-last in the Premier League and they find themselves six points adrift of safety after 17 games into the season. Sam Allardyce will obviously look to strengthen his side with the transfer window open and it appears that he is keen on landing the experienced Snodgrass. The Scotland international has fallen out-of-favour under manager David Moyes this term and he has made only six appearances in all competitions. Out of that, only three have come in the Premier League where the attacker has managed just three minutes, coming off the bench in the final moments of games. With under six months left on his contract, the Hammer...

The year 2020 has been dominated by Covid-19. Many families have been separated and sadly many lives have been lost. The world has changed drastically. However, in these unprecedented times, the medium of football has brought a sense of normality and comfort in people’s lives. But now, with matches being postponed and cases increasing daily, many clubs believe a circuit breaker is the right option for the safety of the players. However, the Premier League has stated that the show must go on and rejected such calls for a break. But are they putting the players’ welfare at stake by doing so? “I’m 66 and the last thing I need is to catch Covid, probably players will overcome it. But it’s more difficult for someone like me. So I’m very concerned for myself and football in general.” West Brom m...

‘Not convinced’: BBC pundit predicts the outcome of West Brom vs Leeds

Former great Liverpool defender turned popular football pundit Mark Lawrenson has predicted a victory for Leeds United ahead of their Premier League clash against West Brom. Both Leeds and West Brom are the two newly promoted sides, but they are having contrasting fortunes. While Leeds find themselves 12th in the Premier League table, the Baggies are struggling in the relegation zone. They have picked up only eight points from 15 games, and have a new manager in place. The Baggies, however, are heading into this game on the back of a morale-boosting 1-1 draw against Liverpool on Sunday at Anfield. Sam Allardyce’s side did just enough to frustrate Liverpool and ended their perfect start at home this season. Lawrenson says that they deserved the point against the Reds. He suggests that the g...

Brighton and Hove Albion are also keen on the 27-year-old, and with 18 months left on his current deal, West Brom could be forced to sell him if a suitable offer comes in. Leeds have 20-year-old Illan Meslier as their first-choice goalkeeper after Kiko Casilla lost his spot due to a long-term ban for alleged racism, and while the French youngster has been in inspired form since taking over, it appears that head coach Marcelo Bielsa is keen on an addition. The Leeds goalie has kept four clean sheets and made 56 saves in 14 Premier League games, but he has also conceded the most goals (30) in t...
