Weezer’s big appearance on The Simpsons premiered last night (May 10), and it featured a full re-working of the iconic theme song for the animated series. During the end credits of the episode, entitled “The Hateful Eight-Year-Olds,” Weezer are seen performing Danny Elfman’s theme music but with more electric guitars and heavy drum action. It also gave viewers a sense of nostalgia for what it felt like to be at a concert again with the animated crowds cheering them on. Weezer to Appear on The Simpsons and Will Debut a New Song
Weezer shared a new song, “Hero,” dedicated to frontline workers on Wednesday and now the band will be the latest rock band to appear on an episode of The Simpsons. The episode will take place this Sunday, May 10. The episode, titled “The Hateful Eight Year-Olds,” will see Rivers Cuomo and company will appear as Sailor’s Delight, a cover band on a cruise taken by Homer and Marge, who just so happen to perform Weezer songs from their recent albums. The band will debut a new song titled “Blue Dream” on the episode. The song will appear on the band’s upcoming album, Van Weezer. The release date for it has been pushed and will be announced “soon.” Van Weezer is the band’s 14th album overall. You can get a sneak peek of the episode below.
Weezer Share “Hero” Video That’s Dedicated to Frontline Workers
Weezer has shared a new song from their upcoming Van Weezer album. “Hero” features the band’s classic power-pop sound from their earlier days. It’s the first song they’ve shared since last year’s “End Of The Game.” For the video that was shot from quarantine, Weezer enlisted folks to participate in the tightly-edited clip where the mustached Rivers Cuomo (sporting a KISS shirt) passes a handwritten note — that makes it way around the world (and looks like one gigantic Zoom call) and that folks can see at the end of the video. “This one is for the stay at home dreamers, the zoom graduators, the sourdough bakers, and the essential workers,” the caption for the clips reads.
