Inside Grass Lands, the Largest Cannabis Experience In a U.S. Music Festival to Date

Music producers, artists, and event organizers often talk about how they smoke the competition, but few pull it off quite like Outside Lands. Last weekend, Grass Lands celebrated its fourth year at the Bay Area fest. In that time, the experience has expanded with more partners and offerings, but the best part is festival-goers are able to purchase and enjoy their cannabis freely in a fully compliant zone for smoking. Alive Coverage Now in its 14th iteration, Outside Lands Festival is no stranger to pushing the envelope, but few can assemble the cavalcade of top-shelf cannabis partners who make Grass Lands such a potent festival experience. For instance, Traditional, who is known largely as the godfather of OG growers through most of California, was there with discounted buds in a variety o...

Vegas Nightlife Entrepreneur to Open Cannabis Museum In New York City

There’s more than one way to celebrate cannabis than lighting up. Earlier this year, New York legalized adult use of recreational cannabis, and one Las Vegas-based nightlife entrepreneur is readying his effort to bring the city a major cultural touchpoint in celebration of the plant. The House of Cannabis, or THCNYC for short, is Robert Frey’s project to turn a sprawling 30,000 square-foot space into an immersive museum that will explore the history of cannabis and spotlight the creative arts and culture it has influenced throughout the decades. Frey is the former owner of Vegas’ Pure nightclub and the Pussycat Dolls Lounge. More recently, he became the owner of a 50,000 square-foot cannabis production facility and owned the city’s Zen Leaf dispensary. Frey has sinc...

Best Stoner Movies of All Time

Getting toasty stoned and streaming a flick is a marriage that was made in Hollywood heaven ages ago. The ritual of sparking a joint and watching a movie can be cathartic and watching stoned people navigate the world high on THC is equally as entertaining on the silver screen as it can be in real life. With that, we’ve pulled our nine favorite stoner movies from the archives in which marijuana is the muse. Pineapple Express (2008) When the star of this film is a government-classified strain of weed, you know you’re in for some good shit. In this genre-crossing comedy, Seth Rogen and James Franco star as two stoners who, high on a rare batch of bud, witness a murder and are then chased by bad guys. Described on Rotten Tomatoes as an “action/buddy/stoner” movie, the absurdity of the plot is ...

Breaking Bud: GRiZ Launches Line of Custom Cannabis Strains

A friend with weed is a friend indeed, and GRiZ is taking his best buds national with the launch of two premium cannabis lines. Let’s be blunt: the strain of the pandemic is brutal for many. And if GRiZ’s last album somehow didn’t toke your breath away (sorry, can’t help these puns), his new custom weed will. GRiZ has announced the sale of two brands: the THC-focused Astro Hippie and the CBD line Telescope. The former, an homage to DIY stoner culture that will soon debut in GRiZ’s home state of Michigan, is described as a potent series of flower strains designed for “experimenters” who want to blast off. Many believe weed is a love language, and Astro Hippie, GRiZ says, is a billet-doux to the cannabis c...

Elon Musk says he is first SNL host with Asperger’s syndrome

Elon Musk kicked off his “Saturday Night Live” debut by declaring himself to be the first person with Asperger’s syndrome to host the US comedy sketch show. “Or at least, the first person to admit it,” he said. In his opening monologue, the eccentric tech entrepreneur behind Tesla and SpaceX offered an explanation for some of his past eyebrow-raising behavior. “Look, I know I say or post strange things but that’s just how my brain works. To anyone I’ve offended I just want to say, I reinvented electric cars and I’m sending people to Mars in a rocket ship,” he said. “Did you think I was also going to be a chill, normal dude?” Musk has previously drawn criticism for moves like publicly mocking the US Securities and Exchange Commission and calling a cave diver who rescued boys trapped in Thai...

Johnny Depp took the stand in a UK court on Tuesday as part of his three-week-long libel case against The Sun, the newspaper which accused him of being beating his ex-wife, Amber Heard. During today’s testimony, Depp discussed his drug usage over the years, at one point revealing that he supplied his then-13-year-old daughter with marijuana, reports Page Six. That’s when the Secret Window actor opened up his personal supply, saying that he would rather her use his own “trustworthy” stash instead of a stranger’s weed potentially laced with other drugs. “It’s a safety issue;...

Cannabis Could Help Treat COVID-19, New Study Finds

Has Mike Tyson’s ritual of smoking $40,000 worth of weed every month been strengthening his immune system against the coronavirus pandemic? Probably not… but maybe! According to a new study by researchers at the University of Lethbridge, using cannabis could help treat COVID-19 by blocking coronavirus cells from entering the human body. This non-peer-reviewed, pre-clinincal study, titled “In Search of Preventative Strategies: Novel Anti-Inflammatory High-CBD Cannabis Sativa Extracts Modulate ACE2 Expression in COVID-19 Gateway Tissues”, was published in the peer journal Preprints in May. Lethbridge researchers began looking into a correlation between the two for a partnership between their university, pharmaceutical research company Pathway RX, and cannabinoid-based oral health compan...
