Lagos to deliver Pen Cinema Bridge November

The Lagos State Government on Wednesday said it will complete and deliver the Pen Cinema Bridge by November, 2020. Special Adviser to the Governor on Works and Infrastructure, Mrs Aramide Adeyoye, made this known while rendering account of the activities of the Ministry in the last one year. “The construction of Pen Cinema flyover and access roads in Agege, currently at over 50% stage of work is scheduled for completion in November this year 2020. “On completion the flyover is expected to resolve the perennial traffic gridlock in Agege and its environs,” she said. Military airstrike kills 30 bandits in Zamfara

The Defence Headquarters says the Air Component of Operation Hadarin Daji has killed no fewer than 30 bandits and destroyed their logistics store in air strikes conducted on Tuesday in Doumborou Forest area of Zamfara. The Coordinator, Defence Media Operations, Maj.-Gen. John Enenche, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja. Enenche said the operation was executed based on credible intelligence which revealed that a thatched structure within the forest was being used by the bandits to store their logistics. He said that an Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) aircraft on patrol also spotted some of the bandits on motorcycles and tracked them to the storehouse where they lodged some items. Canadian court disappoints Huawei over CFO’s case

A Canadian court ruled against Huawei’s chief financial officer, Meng Wanzhou, on Wednesday in her extradition case to the US on fraud charges. However, the company said it has faith her innocence will ultimately be maintained. Meng, the CFO of the telecom giant and eldest daughter of its founder is wanted by the U.S for alleged fraud. The US authorities alleged that she lied to HSBC Bank about Huawei’s relationship with its Iran-based affiliate Skycom, putting the bank at risk of violating US sanctions against Tehran. White House organizes harassment of Twitter employee over fact-checking of Donald Trump’s tweets

The White House has set its sights on a single Twitter employee after the company attached a fact-checking link to two of the president’s tweets containing lies and misinformation related to voter fraud. The charge was led on Fox News Wednesday morning, with Trump advisor Kellyanne Conway targeting Twitter’s head of site integrity, Yoel Roth, after digging up some tweets that were critical of Trump, Conway, and the administration. Conway called the employee “horrible” and directed listeners to go after him. “Somebody in San Francisco go wake him up and tell him he’s about to get a lot more followers,” she said on air. South Korea’s unification minister visits estuary to renew commitment to inter-Korean cooperation

Unification Minister Kim Yeon-chul is to visit an estuary of the Han River near the border with North Korea on Wednesday in an effort to renew South Korea’s commitment to jointly using the waterway with the communist nation. Under a military agreement signed at a 2018 summit between President Moon Jae-in and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, the two sides agreed on the joint use of the Han River estuary along their western border and conducted joint waterway research. But the project has stalled since the no-deal summit between the North and the United States in February last year. 50 ships with petroleum products, food items to arrive Lagos ports

Fifty ships laden with petroleum products, food items and other goods are expected at the TinCan Island Port and the Lagos Port Complex from May 20 to June 3. The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) made this known in its publication, `Shipping Position’, a copy of which was made available to newsmen in Lagos on Wednesday. It said that the ships contained vehicles, containers, bulk wheat, inballast, general cargo, sulphur in jumbo bag, base oil, frozen fish, bulk fertiliser, butane gas, petrol and automobile gasoline.
