Sequins at the ready
Tested for sheerness, stretch and sag.
The sensible coats and cosy knits have been swapped out for sequins and suiting, and I’m keen to try almost anything that gets me out of my comfort zone uniform of “jeans and nice top”. It’s immediately clear that there’s a strong colour story happening in the new collection, the primary focus being bright pink, black, cream and silver—hello Barbiecore—and if you want anything from your evening look, it’s to make a statement. While shopping online is quickest and often most convenient, the latest addition to stores is the Metaverse concept collection—a bold edit of vibrant, sculptural pieces available to rent for the ultimate showstopping moment. While I’m immediately drawn to this corner of the store and love th...

Welcome to The Great Try-On. With autumn well and truly in the air, we seized the opportunity to try on some of the best new-in pieces from some of your favourite brands, documenting the process along the way. We believe that the best way to shop online is to see an item IRL and to read candid reviews, so we hope that this leads you to your most successful purchases of the year. As anyone who knows me knows, I’m a high-street devotee. I’m the rare kind of person who actually enjoys shopping (yes, we exist), and I’m happy to while away the hours browsing around the shops to find the best hidden gems. There’s one place, in particular, that I can always rely on for premium pieces at an affordable price, and that’s COS. Always striking the right balance ...
My fellow editors and I often contemplate the age-old question, ‘if you had to wear one brand for the rest of your life what would it be?’ My answer is always Totême. The Swedish brand was founded back in 2014, and is known for its signature minimalist aesthetic which focuses on timeless style over any so-called ‘trends’— part of the reason I’m such a fan. Whether it’s a camel coat, or the perfect pair of black tailored trousers, the collections are based around a uniform of forever pieces that you can (and will happily) pull out season after season. In fact, a lot of their key buys are just restocked again each year, that’s how timeless they are. That’s not to say Totême does “boring” wardrobe staples though— unique design details and elevated fabrics turn a lot of the label’s pieces...
Our We Try Before You Buy series aims to take the stress out of shopping and eliminate the number of post office visits you make each month to return failed online orders. We test new-season buys and styling ideas so you don’t have to. Here, we’re letting you know what is actually worth investing in. For the latest instalment, I headed to Westfield Stratford for a fashionable Supermarket Sweep at Zara, in which I tried on as many of the new autumn pieces as possible without being late for work. And I wasn’t disappointed, as there are so many new season trends on the rails already. As soon as I walked in I saw spots, everywhere. Polka dot slip dresses, bold two-pieces and the most amazing dotty ankle-tie heels you can imagine. Walking around the store, it’...

When it comes to pinpointing affordable pieces that look good year after year, the team at Who What Wear are, if I could be permitted to say, connoisseurs. We know a good buy when we see one, and this week, the arrival of 14 summer-friendly items—a perfectly formed capsule, if you will—has everyone here in the office excited. Okay, so we’re slightly biased because this sustainable range has been designed with the coolest people we know: YOU! Thousands of members of our community banded together a few months ago to start a very innovative and agenda-setting process alongside our editors, in which not only were the demands and desires of our audience first put forward as design inspiration but those involved had a chance to make the big and small decisions...

Not to be very British here and immediately turn the conversation to the weather, but this year, it feels like the change of seasons happened overnight, leaving me a little unprepared when it comes to spring outfits. If anyone else is wondering where all of their spring clothes are hiding and what exactly you wear when you don’t need tights, a scarf and boots, I’m here to help you out as ever with our We Try Before ...
